Does anyone have any experience getting Young Life started at their school?  I really want to, and I'm looking for some advice as to how to go about that.

Subject:Horrible News

Time:10:01 pm.
I just found something tragic out.  My step-dad Bill, who has been supporting the whole family (which includes my mom, three younger brothers, and used-to-be me and Shauna), was laid off today.  I can't even believe it.  No fathoming here.  I am so worried for them.  I don't want them to lose the house or my brothers to have to wear shoes with holes in them.  Thank the good Lord that this year is the first year that all three of my brothers will be in school.  Now maybe my mum can begin working again, even if just part-time.  Please, pray for my family guys.  It would mean a lot to me.  Thank you.

Subject:Epidermolysis Bullosa Awareness
Posted by:ashtherockstar.
Time:1:42 pm.
Debra is a charity to help kids and, if they live that long, adults fight epidermolysis bullosa. This is a horrible rare genetic disease that causes life long pain for whomever has it. Many children who are born with this disease die at a very early age. Epidermolysis bullosa is caused by a mutation or change in the genetic material of the egg or sperm. A very small amount of friction or impact with the person's skin causes blisters. This is because their top layer of skin does not form right and takes a very long time to heal. Simple everyday things leave them with these blisters, such as walking or bumping into a table. In severe cases, the blisters can occur internally, in places like their mouth and esophagus. It is such a painful and itchy disease that is so sad to see. Someone who used to be very close to me had it and it hurt me so much to see him in so much pain and to know that I could do nothing for him to ease it. Debra is the only non-profit organization for the cause of this disease. Even though it's rare, the people who get it still deserve a normal life. I believe that there isn't enough awareness about this disease. The program is great. My old friend who had it told me all about it. Debra gives each person with epidermolysis bullosa money in an account yearly for whatever they may need. They provide camps where people with this and other types of skin diseases can attend and have fun. They are also working their hardest at finding a cure for this disease. Debra is working toward a great cause.

Click on the hyperlink at the end of this to go to the Debra website to learn more. It's very interesting to learn about. They have stories and pictures of people who have epidermolysis bullosa to give you a better understanding of the disease.

Okay, this year we need to fill the beds at camp. I live in the middle of Missouri and there are NO camps within a 12 hour drive from here. Clearwater Cove is a future camp site that will be under construction if all the beds are full at all the other camps in the US. It will be a huge ministry opportunity in the midwest because camp will become more affordable for kids who can't afford to pay for camp and a bus ticket.

So fill those beds!

Hey! I'm Chris, a younglifer fom Australia! We have you life down here, it awesome! I love it! I've been involved in it for about 4 years now.. I became a christian through young life at summer camp about 3 years ago. I've moved on from high school to college but I still keep in contact with the leaders.. They go down to the local high school on thursdays and make pancakes, so I help out whenever I can. And club is great! We go down to a nearby church and.. go crazy! Soap wrestling! Heh.. once one of our leaders got a squid shoved down the back of his pants.. Good times. Gahh! Extreme Summer Camp! Best week of my life! We've gone sailing, whitewater rafting, wakeboarding, water skiing, .. and so much more!!! So many extremely random stories. I'll be able to go next year as part of the work crew. Looking forward to it!! And since I go to college now me and my friends will be able to help out a lot more with club and everything. Yeah.. what's young life like everywhere else?? I never really thought of it being outside Australia.. but it was started in America wasn't it? Anyways.....

hey y'all. i have a question ..im now a junior in high school & i just started to get involved in younglife last year. i did work crew at lake champion for a weekend, started going to club and then signed up to go to saranac in the summer. and of course it was the best week of my life. but by the end of that summer yl in our area ended due to lack of funding. i was thinking about ways to stay involved with yl since it had such a great impact on my life and i decided that id love to do a session of work crew during this summer. so does anyone know how you go about signing up for it since i no longer have a leader. and also do you have to pay to do work crew? if anyone has done wc before please let me know ..thanks!

yes, it's true, i'm starting up a christian club at my school, and it's going to be better than the rest of them, because all the other christian clubs fell apart and are no more and that really pisses me off. i have come up with a constitution but i don't know a name for this club. if there is any name that describes a christian's journey with christ, God's love, or the fact that he gives us salvation for free through christ, that would be great if my genious friends could come up with something. also if you have a name that is has an even better story thing behind it than the ones that i came up with, you would get ten million kudos and a hug!!

here is my constitution, hopefully this is good enough.

________ club is designed for those who know and those who would like to know more about God and Jesus Christ and learn about ways we can serve him through the school. This club will be different from the other "Christian clubs" because we will be a combination of the previous clubs and then some. We will have a dedicated prayer time, along with a bible study, as well as opportunities to give something back to not only our school community, but the whole Everett-Seattle, area. We will also not fall apart like the rest because we will have structure through planning, dedication, etc.

thank you

my friend emailed me this question, can anyone give an answer to this?

Hey everybody. I have what I think is an important question. See if you can come up with an answer. If you're stumped, don't make something up; just accept your stumptedness and maybe try to find the answer too. Everything in black is either my question or stuff that makes my question coherent.

The Bible talks about people suffering for Jesus. Ancient Rome crucified Christians. Through the last 2000 years, saints have died for God and for their relationships with Him. But, would it not be wiser to deny God to your executioners, exclusively so that you can continue living and serving Him? God won't use a dead saint.

Think of it like this: You deny Jesus to your executioners and are therefore allowed to live. But, you, in the next few months think more about it and realize you should have died back there and feel guilty so you kill yourself. But suicide's a sin! But you're supposed to be dead! Is God going to say, "No, your life was supposed to end only that specific way. If you kill yourself, although you're doing it for Me, your death just won't give Me the right kind of glory." Yes, He has the days of our lives planned out so it's possible that you should have died back there, but God uses everything to work for the good of those who love Him and since you denied Him because you love Him (remember, you only did it to keep serving Him), you're supposed to be one of the people that stands to reap this "good of those who love Him".

I'll recap, if for no other reason, so that I come away understanding my question completely.

The Bible instructs us to be willing to die for Jesus. But if it's a "deny God or die" situation, would it not be wiser to deny Him to the gunmen--and thereby blatantly lie--,be spared, and go out and continue to serve Him?

Something interesting I just thought of is that one of the Christians who died in the Columbine shootings knew ahead of time that she wouldn't make it out of that year. She wrote poetry about it and even drew a prophetic drawing. She knew in elementary school that she would make a difference for God with the life that she knew even then would be short. So God had planned that she would die there so I guess she did it right, but even as I type that, a very difficult-to-articulate question about predestination comes to my mind. I don't know. Help?

Ok. I think that's it.

Grace--amd this time, wisdom--be with you,

I just found this community. I was in YL for 3 years in high school, lead Wyldlife for a year, and was a volunteer with the Capernaum Partnership. I was on work crew in 98 and 99 and Summer staff in 2000. I ended up taking all my college classes at night and getting married after college so I'm no longer involved but I'll never forget the impact YL has had on my life and the things I learned about christ and relationships.

Subject:Almost time for camp!!!
Posted by:rockinyoshi.
Time:5:30 pm.
Hey, I'm taking some kids to Wyldlife camp at Rockbridge Alum Springs Aug. 12th-16th. Is anyone else going? Has anyone taken Wyldlife kids to camp before that could give me some pointers? I did Young Life in high school, and was a semi-leader then, but I never had any association with Wyldlife until I was placed there, so I'm not sure just how much the camp experience differs between the two. Also, I need some prayer for the next 2 weeks leading up to camp that I can really show these kids Christ through myself. I've always had a problem being a "thinking Christian," and not so much one that follows my heart and does what I need to do when God tells me to do it. Thanks a bunch in advance, guys. Hope everyone else's camps have been going great. It's still amazing to me that God has allowed us to have the influence on kids that we do. We are truly blessed.
